Many years ago, the only decent portable music player I ever owned was this bulky Sony Walkman/Discman. I had to retire it about a decade ago when it fell from my hands and broke the shiny crystal thing that reads the CD.
The next music player I owned was an iPod Touch. It was a charming little device that can do a lot of things, except for one, become a reliable music player. Which is ironic given the fact it's supposedly a good music player.
Don't get me wrong, it's not that bad. But it's not great either. My ears won't lie to me. The sound the iPod produces isn't nearly studio perfect. It's like listening to some music inside your room located in your basement house from your neighbor's dying karaoke, a couple of meters away.
So when I heard of Sony bringing back their stake on a music player to compete with the iPod, excitement went up my spine. I trust the Sony brand more than enough that I'd surely buy one.
The new Sony Walkman Z Series will arrive in the market on December 10, 2011, so I have plenty enough time to earn the more or less $500 price tag it has, if the Japanese-converted pricing is to be believed.
It will run Android, will take apps and games, equipped with GPS and tons of other stuff. But the best thing about this music player is it being equipped with Sony's Clear Audio Technology, to give it the ability to do perfectly what it's supposed to do.
